Jennifer is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian who is also an endurance runner. She has been
active throughout her life, but has always been challenged by running. After a friend approached
her to train for a half marathon, Jennifer decided she was up to the challenge and ran the Country Music
Half Marathon in 2004. She was then hooked on distance running and went on to complete the Philadelphia
marathon that same year. Since then, Jennifer has run 2 more marathons as well as many shorter races. Her
goal is to qualify for Boston by 2008.
Jennifer graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s in Nutrition and completed her
Master’s of Science in Nutrition at Southern Illinois University. During her career, she has
taught a variety of audiences, from college students to seniors. She moved to the Triangle in
2002 and currently oversees the nutrition program at Duke for over 30,000 employees. Jennifer
started her business, Active Nutrition, LLC, in 2006 and enjoys teaching all types of athletes
about how proper fueling can help maximize their performance.
