Diana Hurwitz
Diana Hurwitz began her journey into yoga in 1993 as a student of Kripalu yoga. She became certified in the Sampoorna Hatha Yoga tradition in 1999. Her certification program for yoga included an in depth review of Anatomy, Musculoskeletal Dynamics and the therapeutic uses of yoga in health and healing. Her teaching is heavily influenced by the Iyengar and Kripalu styles of yoga. She has attended Continuing Education workshops taught by Internationally Recognized Yoga Experts Rodney Yee, Lilias Folan, Nischala Joy Devi, Yogi Hari, Steven Cope, Ann Greene, Todd Norian, Shiva Rea, Ken Nelson, Lillah Schwartz, and Didier Razon. She has training in prenatal yoga as taught by Bonnie Berk, developer of Motherwell. She holds a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Nursing from the University of Connecticut. She has also studied herbal remedies, homeopathy and energy medicine, and has experience with chiropractic medicine and acupuncture.
Diana began teaching in January, 2000 by initiating classes at community centers, gyms, spas, retirement communities, and private homes. Through classes at retirement communities, she became well experienced in the modification of yoga poses for seniors, as well as those with chronic health conditions. In 2003, she opened a yoga studio in Mount Dora, Florida, serving a wide variety of client needs.
Diana recently relocated to North Carolina with her husband of 24 years, Michael. She is focusing her teaching efforts at this time on special workshops and private sessions. In a private session of yoga, you can expect to receive individualized attention and a practice program tailored to your specific needs. Whether you are new to the practice of yoga or a seasoned practitioner, you will get the challenge and support you need in a relaxed and private atmosphere. You will gain the confidence and training to create a personal home practice.
A regular practice of yoga brings a wealth of benefits, including strengthening and toning of muscles, increased balance and coordination, increased range of motion, increased lung capacity, and a feeling of calm and ease in the body and mind.
